The sounds and movements  of scraping are quite satisfying as I arrange, layer and collage painted and printed papers. I consider transparency and opacity: revealing, concealing and juxtaposing shapes, colors, textures and marks.

Waterfall, Chasms and Forest

The Waterfall, Chasms and Forest series is my response to a life-changing visit to Yellowstone as well as my new surroundings: the gorgeous hills of New England.

Having been raised on an Ohio farm, I experience a familiarity with the random brute force of nature as well as its pervasive serenity.

Fragile Balance

In the Fragile Balance Series, portals act as a metaphor for looking both forward and backward. What does the future hold? What’s at the threshold of the unknown, and what are we leaving behind? How does one live a life that accommodates the appreciation of beauty while we are facing very present threats?

Pushing Boundaries

The Pushing Bounderies series focuses less on fragmentation and more on harmony as it explores the role of the surrounding white space to the entirety of the work.

Changing Narratives

During this series I was particularly aware of the cultural and political changes in our country. I was keen on telling the story using strong forms and diptychs. The shapes are in a conversation but not always aligned.
